Our Transactions & Analysis department reports the sale of a former car dealership site on Rainsford Road in Chelmsford.  

The site, which includes an existing building of over 9900 sq ft, has been sold with residential and commercial development potential.  It occupies a prominent position within the town and offers a site area of approximately 0.19 hectares (0.47 acres).

Januarys Nick Muncey handled the sale which received offers in excess of the £1.75m asking price. “There was strong interest from a variety of developers and owner occupiers”, reports Muncey. “The site is located close to the town centre on one of the major intersections on the inner ring road. It provides excellent visibility from many directions, so offers a number of development opportunities. The existing building is a mixture of single and two storeys, with the main vehicle access on to Rainsford Road combining former showroom, offices, workshop and stores, with extensive underground car parking. It could be developed into something really stunning and imaginative”.

The site falls into the local borough council’s zone for residential development and a design brief has been prepared for any potential development.

Local Chelmsford company MCO Developments Ltd have purchased the site.
