The Cambridge Visitor Information Centre (VIC) - Tourist Office for the traditionalists - is moving premises making way for a unique opportunity to trade from one of Cambridge’s most central locations.
The VIC is moving around the corner to Peas Hill where it will adjoin the former Crown Court premises in the Guildhall leaving behind its current accommodation which the City Council plan to lease out. The Council have instructed us to find a tenant who can trade collaboratively with the VIC from this Cambridge landmark building.
Marketing particulars are available and show that there are a range of possible retail, café, leisure and education uses that could be secured and operated from the premises. Executive Councillor Rod Cantrill said: “We would like to investigate the possibilities of working with a third party who can compliment the Information Centre’s functions. We see this as another step towards the successful enhancement of the cultural quarter around Peas Hill and Wheeler Street, making best use of the former Court premises, and sharpening our support for Cambridge visitors and residents.”
Available accommodation is 590 sq ft of possible retail/café space adjacent to the main entrance on Peas Hill. The former Robing Room, 436 sq ft suitable for retail or office accommodation. Former Crown Court accommodation totalling 995 sq ft potentially with additional basement office/storage of 437 sq ft.
The Guildhall will also house Jamie Oliver’s new Italian Restaurant, due to open in 2009.
We have also been instructed to assist Cambridge City Council with the project management of the building contract, controlling costs and bringing the necessary alterations in on budget as well as preparing the building for letting.
