Expertise Leads to Church Redevelopment
January 2012
Januarys and local architects Barber Casanovas Ruffles, have used their planning expertise and local knowledge to obtain consent for a new church and community centre for C3, the Cambridge Community Church
The new building, which is on the corner of Brooks Road and Coldham's Lane, opposite Sainsbury's, will include an auditorium for 400 people, meeting rooms and offices.
We became involved after BCR Architects were selected as the architects for a revised scheme and Sally Fletcher, a Consultant in the firm's Planning Department, is delighted with the result.
“The new building, which reflects the curve of the road, will provide a new centre for C3 that is both beautiful and practical. It is very much in keeping with the aims and work of this vibrant and progressive church.
“The design incorporates cloisters, internal walkways and stained glass public art, as well as trees around the building frontage that will mature with the site.
“Particularly on such a prominent site, the technical aspects of the site were very important,” says Sally. “We were able to guide the client down the right road and supply the council with the appraisals and information they required.
“I have worked on a number of churches in the area and I am very much looking forward to seeing this one being completed. It will be an exciting new addition to this part of Cambridge.”
