Fenland Pumping Station Attracts Interest
August 2011
A three bedroom bungalow in the Fens, which comes with a redundant pumping station as a highly unusual extra feature, has attracted considerable interest since being put on the market.
The property, which is situated between Downham Market and Wisbech, and is approximately 10 miles from King's Lynn, also includes two paddocks and has a total area of a little over 1.50 acres.
The bungalow is in a state of some disrepair but, for prospective purchasers, it is the redundant pumping station that has been attracting all the attention.
“The old pumping station is what has made this property particularly interesting,” says Graham Smith, Associate.
“Since being made redundant, it has been turned into a museum and still boasts all the original pumps and equipment. As you might imagine, it has attracted a great deal of interest from serious buyers and enthusiasts alike, and the open days we held at the property were extremely well attended.
“More pertinently from the client's perspective, we had twenty serious enquiries from which we received several offers that were satisfactory. We are hopeful of concluding a deal with one of the prospective purchasers shortly.
“We very much hope that the new owner will keep the museum as a going concern as it would be a great shame for part of our regional heritage to disappear from view.”
