Former Care Home For Sale
August 2011
Januarys is aiming to obtain best value for the NHS for Wessex Place, an ex old people’s home off Magrath Avenue in Cambridge.
The property, which once housed eighteen residents, is now vacant, having become surplus to NHS requirements, and we are looking for a suitable purchaser to develop the site.
Associate, Nick Muncey says they’re keeping an open mind on what could replace the home.
“Given its location and the fact that the NHS is seeking to obtain best value, I’d suggest that some sort of residential proposal would be the way ahead.
“However, we’re happy to listen to other ideas for the site. If we’re approached by a developer with a scheme which they think will work and can obtain planning permission for, then we’ll take them seriously.
“As with most projects of this size, all bids need to be submitted by competitive tender and we’ll be keen to ensure that whoever wins not only has the best scheme but will be able to see this through to completed development.
“Wessex Place is in a fantastic spot. Within easy walking distance of Cambridge city centre, it’s a great opportunity to build an imaginative scheme that will stand the test of time."
